A hedgerow in winter

The winter hedgerows in the country are full of fantastic delights. The light moving through the dried weeds and stalks, the skeleton leaves and seed heads hanging on through the wind and snow give me lots of inspiration.

This was done originally  as a wash for the One Hundred Washes Challenge, and then worked into in more detail. Masking fluid which was added after the first wash (and in some places still not removed!) for the finer details on the leaves and seed heads. I lost it a bit in terms of composition, but I'll come back to it.

Watercolour on Arches 140lb paper (not sure if cp) - oh this is good paper - now I know why so many people use it! It takes a lot of water and the paper stays quite wet for ages.
