Apples from an old garden

A friend of mine has a wonderful garden. It is mostly paved with large flat paving stones, where nasturtiums run riot and the apple and plum trees lining the edges of the garden have never been pruned. A magical spot!
This was done from a sketch of the apples.
Watercolour on Arches 140lb cp paper.

  1. You do a magnificent job of not overdoing a painting. I love how you pick parts and have the self-restraint to suggest others and leave some of the page white.

  2. Fab. work Suzanne, and I totally agree with Alisha's comment, and I love the white space you have left also.

  3. This is so beautiful and tender. I love it just as it is, with the white space balancing. Such an unusual composition that really works - glides the eye across the page. Stunningly soft, gentle and atmospheric. I can almost smell those apples!
